Only in really special years is our red luxury cuvée Mephisto cultivated. The composition of the wine depends on the vintage, but is always dominated by national grape varieties.
Mephisto 2018 is composed as approximately 60% Zweigelt, 20% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon. Cabernet Sauvignon forms the backbone, Zweigelt from very old vines provides structure and Merlot the fleshy core.
The careful combination of grown tradition and modern techniques is the top priority. Particularly careful care of the vines, rigorous yield restrictions and sensitive vinification in harmony with the unique micro climate and terroir of the Bisamberg, allow a wine of special structure and harmony to mature.
Mephisto is powerful, round and silky and incredibly elegant. Thanks to its complexity and fine tannins, the wine matures superbly.

Vinification
Selective harvest by hand, destemming without squeezing. Skin contact between 20-28 days, maceration for 24 months in 300l barrels, followed by assemblage of the tranches in the great wooden barrel. Rest, maceration and integration for another 6 months.
No treatments and unfiltered.

Powerful ruby garnet, spicebox, dark forrest berries, vanilla, delicate aromas of
forest floor.
A multi-layered wine, with power and spice.
